Terry Malloy, a former boxer who now works for Johnny Friendly's corrupt port syndicate, is caught in a moral dilemma after witnessing a murder by Johnny's henchmen. When he meets the victim's sister and Pastor Barry, Terry is forced to choose between blind loyalty or testifying to reveal the depravity behind the harbor violence.
